Naultinus elegans punctatus (Gray, 1842)
Wellington Green Gecko

The N. elegans punctatus sub species is much larger than N. elegans elegans and can be distinguished by the yellow soles it has on its feet instead of the grey-green colour of N. elegans elegans.

This form of N. elegans is found in the south-eastern area of the North Island.

Arboreal, nocturnal hunters but sun-bask, love eating moths and flies.

Live in scrub and forest areas especially Kanuka and Manuka where it occurs.

This sub-species displays an aggressive behaviour, baring its open blue cavity mouth and barking if provoked.
